Culture, Society and Economy: Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Regional Development
Keywords:
Culture; Society; Economy; Regional development; Interdisciplinarity; Territory; Cultural diversity.Synopsis
This book brings together reflections produced in the course Culture, Society and Economy, offered by the Graduate Program in Regional Development and Productive Systems at the State University of Mato Grosso do Sul. From an interdisciplinary perspective, the chapters discuss Indigenous games, territory, affirmative action policies, maker laboratories and socio-emotional education, emphasizing culture as a structuring dimension of social, economic and political relations. The work problematizes hegemonic models of development centered exclusively on economic growth and highlights the importance of identities, local knowledge, diversity, education and public policies in the construction of more inclusive alternatives. By gathering research developed by master’s students, the book expresses the commitment of graduate education to critical, situated and socially relevant knowledge production, especially in contexts marked by regional inequalities and cultural diversity. It contributes to the debate on regional development from a Latin American, plural and transformative perspective.
