Maricotinha and the Mimosa Jacaranda: Fertile Soils presents, in a playful and accessible language, the relationship between plants, soil, and climate balance. The story follows Maricotinha, a curious girl who talks to a jacaranda tree and learns how trees carry out photosynthesis, capture carbon dioxide, release oxygen, and contribute to life on the planet. Throughout the narrative, the book shows that leaves, branches, animals, fungi, and bacteria take part in the decomposition of organic matter, transforming natural residues into nutrients and helping to form fertile soils. The work also highlights the importance of carbon stored in the soil, explaining that its preservation helps reduce global warming and strengthen ecosystems. With colorful illustrations and coloring activities, the book introduces children to topics such as environmental education, sustainable development, care for nature, and collective responsibility for preserving the planet, encouraging scientific curiosity, ecological awareness, and everyday care practices from childhood.
