This book analyzes the Black Beauty Movement in Mato Grosso do Sul, focusing on the Black Beauty Contest of Campo Grande as a sociocultural action against racism and in favor of racial equality. The study investigates the movement’s trajectory, its educational practices, its relationship with the appreciation of Black aesthetics, and its contribution to the construction of positive racial identities. It also discusses the presence of Black populations in Brazilian and Mato Grosso do Sul history, addressing slavery, resistance, post-abolition experiences, Black movements, and educational policies related to ethnic-racial relations. In the field of History teaching, the work highlights the importance of Law No. 10.639/2003, anti-racist education, and the use of didactic resources, especially the documentary produced about the contest. Thus, the study presents the Black Beauty Movement as an educational, political, and cultural space capable of confronting stereotypes, strengthening representation, and expanding anti-racist pedagogical practices.
