This book analyzes the legal regime of transboundary wetlands, focusing on the environmental protection of the Mato-Grossense Pantanal. The study connects International Environmental Law, human rights, sustainable development, international cooperation and shared sovereignty, highlighting the Ramsar Convention as a central framework for wetland conservation. It also examines protection under the Brazilian legal system, especially the Federal Constitution of 1988, the National System of Conservation Units, the Forest Code and state legislation from Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul. The work discusses the ecological, social and economic importance of the Pantanal, as well as its socio-environmental conflicts, environmental threats and governance challenges. By addressing the Pantanal Statute and the prospects for normative development, the book contributes to debates on public policy, biodiversity conservation and the sustainable use of this strategic transboundary biome.
